Elmhurst New Waste to Wear Uniform
Elmhurst Ballet School have shown just how serious they are with their commitment to saving the planet by commissioning Dansez to design and produce a new planet friendly bespoke uniform.
Thankfully a lot of planning had been done back in January, along with Dancing Boutique the official Elmhurst uniform supplier. So despite all the challenges of Covid the amazing team at the Dansez studio in Kent, managed to design, produce and deliver the new uniform in time for the new school year.
As a world renowned centre for excellence for ballet Elmhurst have taken a very positive step in showing the world that dance can also be part of the waste to wear revolution. Brandon Lawrence, Principal at Birmingham Royal Ballet has been trailblazing the introduction of regenerated dance wear with his exclusive collection designed with Dansez. It feels very fitting that Elmhurst with its association with BRB is also following his lead with every year group now wearing Healthy Seas by Dansez.
This planet friendly uniform is part of the evolving range of dance clothing that Dansez is proud to be producing. It features recovered ocean waste by the Healthy Seas Initiative which is then turned back into beautiful sustained fabrics.
When every Elmhurst student pulls on their sustainable uniform they know they are wearing something very special, something that has played a part in tackling the colossal issue of plastic waste in the ocean. It is hard to believe that ocean waste can be turned into a dancers second skin but that is exactly what has been achieved with Elmhurst uniform.
