It's International Women's Day
Today is International Women's Day and we thought that this year it was about time that we talked more about the women of Dansez.
Dansez is a team mainly of women across the different parts of our UK manufacturing and distribution, but we are going to start with Julie who leads the team of women who make the thousands of leotards every year that find their way around the world. When we tell the story of Dansez, Julie has been a constant for the past 20 years. Her dedication to creating beautiful hand made dance clothes has been an inspiration to the the team who draw every pattern, cut over a million metres of fabrics and then carefully assemble each garment stitch by stitch.
The talented team of women take the cut fabrics and turn them into the many dance wear collections of Dansez that professional and amateur dancers wear and rely on. Over 45 years later this team of women have been instrumental in one of the biggest global changes in dancewear manufacturing as Dansez pioneered the shift to sustainable fabrics.
It sounds easy doesn’t it? But when you think that every existing pattern had to be regraded to allow for the differences in the fabric, it was a mammoth undertaking. We are lucky that Julie provides so much knowledge and continuity on her progression from joining Dansez as a young machinist to becoming our Production Manager who works hand in had with another inspirational Dansez woman.
That person is Samantha, Managing Director of Dansez, who has radically transformed the business to what it has become today, the shining example of an ethical, sustainable and innovative British business. Her dedication and drive to see dancers of all ages have the opportunity to wear dance clothing that fits beautifully, accentuates, supports and lives up to the ‘second skin of dansez’ has become a life’s mission. Working with the women of Dansez, Sam has created some of the most beautiful dancewear available to dancers.
Manufacturing in the UK has many challenges and fierce competition from other countries, but having our own production facility means we have complete control of the entire chain of events that leads to a customer receiving a high quality garment from us. The women of Dansez keep us at the forefront of British dance wear manufacturing and we thank you.
